my style of knitting

there are a couple of distinct knitting styles out there, the continental style and the english style (which are both explained here in this video). i've also heard of an irish cottage style and a portugese style. turns out i knit my very own way, probably because most of the re-teaching myself that i did as a kid was from old books and i just made it work as well as i could. here are some pictures to point out my oddities. :)

i hold the yarn between my thumb and index finger while knitting...
and i tension the yarn by running it over my middle finger, under my ring finger, and back out over my pinky.
i get my middle, ring and pinky fingers out of the way when i make a stitch, like this:
how do YOU knit?

  1. I'm laughing right now - I hold the yarn between my thumb and index finger as well. I'm self taught and have never bothered to teach myself otherwise because I find that my tension is really even, so why mess with a good thing. I don't know anyone else who knits like that, so it's nice to see that I'm not alone in the world!
